Several growers have suggested that we change the prize amounts to benefit the event and the grower. Here are the new prize amounts. 1st-$5000, 2nd-$3000, 3rd-$2000, 4th-$1500, 5th-$1000, 6th thru 10th-$500, 11th thru 15th-$300, and 16th thru 20th-$200.

In addition, we need to purchase six 400-600lb. pumpkins for the professional sculptors. We can afford to pay $200 each for them. Also, we are paying $350 to participate in the regatta on Oct 7th. We will need to buy two pumpkins weighing 600-800lbs for the sponsors of this event and we can afford $350 for those also.

If there are any questions please call 513-635-7776. We will be posting all the rules and prizes on our website by 9/19/12. Operation-Pumpkin.org.

This has to be one of the best overall grower friendly weigh-off payouts of any site in the U.S. that's around $18,000 where is the money coming from.

Is this your first year with a weigh-off?

I see there is a big festival to go along with it, how long has the festival been happening?

Thank you

Can anyone with a giant pumpkin enter the regatta or does it have to be in the 600-800 pound range? I have one that is shy of 400 lbs that I can fit, if I entered that would you pay 350 for that?

To answer some questions, the prize money has been raised through donations and yes this is our first year. Tony Vanderpool director of the Southern Ohio Pumpkin Growers Assoc. will be assisting us with the weigh off. This is the first year for the festival as well. Superlimo, I believe my wife has responded to you, we would prefer that the pumpkins be larger for safety, but if the day of the weigh off we do not have 10 participants we would accept you.
