Where is the photo's , proof of any kind, until then you are out of line claiming a world record.
So you expect us the believe that their was a 536 lb gourd with no photos of any kind and mysterious grower.
Put op the proof or let it drop.

Good seed, good weather, good grower and a bit of good luck. It's that simple. Growing techniques can vary wildly depending on where you live and they should. The most important factor is seed. It wasn't until the genetics were developed by people like Mr Dill. That has made it possible to do what you are seeing done today. If you stick with it and have the attitude that nothing is given it's mostly earned then you will one day succeed. If you think whining and playing the woe is me card gets you anywhere in this sport you are sadly mistaken. DO THE HOMEWORK AND EARN IT.

You've heard the saying there's the right way, the wrong way and there's my way. Well imho that's the one intangible that those top tier grows have. It's the ability to recognize when it is or isn't working. Maybe it's just a lack of patience or more time spent doing other things and not paying attention. I know people who test their soil all the time do leaf samplings and move along at a snails pace from one disaster to another. Then there are those who appear to do very little and do very well every year. I'm not doing anything revolutionary in the way I grow. I'm doing those basic things plants need to survive and thrive. No knee jerk reactions small incremental changes sometimes. It's not trick or treat it's HORTICULTURE 101.

I have been told that one should rotate the fruit slightly once a week to prevent the water from pooling on the bottom.

Spud, I cannot figure you out. Is it the lack of light again? You start a thread with a title like this, and then some of us ask you to once again elaborate. You give some BS response in your typical condescending way that helps nobody, and then get actual replies to your question you asked 4 minutes later.
??? I'm still waiting to hear about this record, I think you are full of shit.

My friend Doug grew the World Record this year. Period. Scott just can't accept that and has to put a cloud over it.

Doug grew the World Record this year
It really makes me mad when, a grower grows a giant world record and then someone like Scott comes up with some bullshit just to try to take away the joy of such an amazing accomplishment.
Doug English is the world record holder for the Bushel Gourd and that is a fact, I think if Scott keeps this bull up, he should be banned.

To say it bluntly..there has never been a gourd grown over 279.5 and we know who did that just recently. R.Wright had the record for a long time at 231.5, then Jeffers from KY with approx. 235.lbs for a few years, and now Doug. So case close! Didn't have anything to do tonight so I thought I would post something. lol
