I have a BG growing on it's bottom therefore, I can't take traditional OTT measurements (SS & FB). What's the best way to put the tape to it?

Same as you would a pumpkin. Circumference +Side to Side+ Back to Front= OTT

Can't do an honest back to front when it's growing on it's bottom......

I don't believe it matters but sounds like you really don't have another choice.

just take your measurements the same each time and use the WM chart. After it is weighed if you like try measuring it differently and let us know.

so if you measure a sphere, does it matter what is top or bottom?

"so if you measure a sphere, does it matter what is top or bottom"?
That is correct if one is measuring a sphere.....
I guess I'll plead my case....
I have one BG that is small enough and unencumbered enough to move around. I can lay it on it's side and do a traditional OTT. I can flip it over on it's blossom end and measure that way as well. Problem is, the numbers don't match.
The BG I'm struggling with is an oblate spheroid, growing on it's blossom end. No big deal, it'll weigh whatever it weighs...lol.

I think as we get into the bushel gourds more. the measuring will be figured out better. It will depend on whether you grow on the blossom or on it's side. I have one that is growing kind of on a 45 deg angle. And I can see it growing but the measurements didn't change as much as I thought they would. They seem to grow pretty uniformly so maybe growing on the blossom would be best.
