I am doing my best to prune the secondaries as I do my pumpkins and am also burying but it doesn't seem like they are rooting for me? Any suggestions? Thanks John

I have buried all of my secondary vines as well. I’ve gone back to check for rooting at the leaf nodes and I’ve found it very sporatic. Definitely not as aggressive as AGs.

Same here, very little secondary rooting.

I never buried them as I find it does not contribute enough to do all of that effort, because the roots are quite small at the nodes, in my case.. so I just left them and they root themselves, although not like C.maxima and C.pepo.

When I pulled up my plant last year there were tap roots on every leaf node. Most broke free about 1 foot into the soil. Ther the roots were sizable. I cover all the secondary's at the leaf node only and I blow the dirt off the Main Vine (with high velocity water) after three weeks Don't want the main vine to rot underground. The roots grow quicker under the dirt during those 3 weeks.

Tried testing in past on two vines side by side, one buried and one not buried, there was no significat difference in rooting, as said before not contribute enough to do it... for me...

This was my first year growing a BG and I just pulled my plant out today. I have to change my previous statement. My planted rooted very aggressively at almost every leaf node. I buried all secondaries but not the main.
