Looking at pictures from weigh-offs, including the new records over the past couple weeks, it appears there are two types of heavy gourd. One is darker green, shows more cracks/cantalouping, is rounded with no ribbing, and has a small blossom end mark. e.g. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1898723410214164&set=gm.2077336715632885&type=3&theater&ifg=1 The other is lighter green, no cracks/cantalouping, and has ribbing (squash-like) and a larger blossom end mark. Is this just natural variation, or are there two different breeds being grown? Or is it just seeing pictures instead of being present and they're more similar? e.g. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1909806939099080&set=a.133675540045571&type=3&theater

Not exactly sure what the right answer is, but I do know that the Bushel Gourds will go from a smooth skin to a canteloped skin naturally as the get old and or were subjected to prolonged heat or sun.
