We are growing giant bushel gourds here in East Texas. Several gourds have set on side vines. Should we pinch the ends of the vines to help them do well? Any guidelines would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you want to let the side vine the gourd is on grow out and term the main and non fruit bearing secondaries instead.Ones that set closer # of nodes to the main are generally better. Secondaries farther out on the main are better.

I agree with cojoe. Pollinate maybe 3-4 secondary's at the 1st leaf node. After you are sure they took, choose a keeper. Maybe wait 1 week. Terminate the main vine about 2 inches after the secondary vine that has the pollinated BG on it. I did make a DVD about growing BG's.
