The 1143 Engel seems iffy for brilliant orange. I think crossing the 359 Foss and 1374 Engel may have brought out the 2009 genetics. Then again it could be I have that puppy shaded pretty good.
The 1912 Carter has a Solid Orange Color. We will see if it keeps the smooth skin or gets rough later in the season.

Shannon,
That pumpkin you have on the 1912 Carter is on an awesome pace so far! It looks promising for nice orange color as well. Good luck!
I have one plant; my own 435.5 Wallace 15 est. It's a relatively late pollination....day 23 today. It's growing at a nice pace by my standards, and I like it's shape so far(kind of barrel-like). I'm expecting nice orange color, like it's mother. If the weather cooperates, I'm hoping I have shot at challenging my personal best of 1041 lbs. It's got a nice sized plant behind it. I'm not very tech savy, but hopefully I can figure out how to post some pics from this computer, in the near future.

My orange outlook for this season is dismal. Just hoping for heavy and crappy looking at this point.

The 552 Minor is already a dark, solid orange...unfortunately shape takes it out of consideration for HD. My other pumpkin, 356 is growing well after a rough start. Only DAP25 but has good numbers and is developing a solid orange coloration. I like what I see so far with it. My 3rd orange hope from the beginning of the season is my 150 plant. Ugliest pumpkin I have ever grown. It doesn't have color, shape or skin quality.

My 823 est House 15 ( 811 X 359) had a beauty growing on it till the plant went down with phytopthoria this week. It is taping around 650 but only has about 10 percent of the plant left. It is crossed with the 1538 Jutras that has a deep orange kin on it but will never get real big because of stem damage. I should have listened better when told not to move pumpkins in the morning.

My 939.6 Karkos wasn't doing well. I cover all vines, except right at the stump. You guessed it SVB larvae , in at leaf base, then into vine. My Reeb is still going. We cant buy any decent insect chem in Ontario. Damn!!! Jim

I do too George! I like that you selfed it, hopefully capturing those orange genes. If that pumpkin has seeds, I may be making a request for next year.

My 699 Rahe is looking round and orange and is currently beating my personal best benchmarks. The 1374 Engel is it's daddy. I hope I don't "farm it up" lol.

Here is one from my 1047.5 McWilliams (359 Foss x self) http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=263577 It was set fairly late on a secondary, the main fruits kept aborting. It seems to have the great orange color and shiny skin of the parent. We are growing 2 on this plant. One is on a split tertiary vine but still doing OK. Same color, but not as good shape.

The 781 Engel is in the 150 patch at a little over 400 lbs and looks like it will be orange but not pretty, and the 1538 Jutras is going to be very orange

I figured it is worth mentioning that the 1998 Jutras I have going has far exceeded my expectations for deep orange and smooth shiny skin. Gold specks too.
Unfortunately none of my controlled pollinations took in the extreme heat so it is a late/open/side vine pumpkin.

I kinda like my 1000.5 Gansert. Tall, round, smooth and shiny dark orange. Will see what others think in 6 days when it goes to the scale.

One thing I'm liking about my 1047.5 is that it keeps growing right up to October, just like the parent 359 Foss did last year. All of our other plants quit early. We will be having 2 or 3 of the 1047.5's in the patch next year.
