My goal for 2019 is a cross that has as much pretty 1810 Werner in its background as possible. These three at are the top of my lineup, and I have backups if either of the '18 seeds doesn't germinate.
1937 Werner '18
1933.5 Stelts '18
1810 Werner '16

I've also got 2112 Skinner, 1931.5 Wolf, and 1673.5 Stelts 2018 in my back pocket just in case.

2152 Gantner is my iffy one and will be planted at Bob's patch as he does not mind Just Orange.

Possibly cross this with the 1200 Engel (1912 Carter x 1143 Engel) 1143 is a 359 Foss x 1374 Engel. This pumpkin did not see a lot of dirt. Like it should

1200 Engel will be the main one. Maybe my 1047 McWilliams that grew a HD for me, or my 830, which is a cross of 2 HD winners (288 Buglio x 748 McWilliams)

The 1211 Ailts is a 1374 x Self. The 1374 Engel, is a 359 Foss x 1048 Engel x 2009 Wallace. The 1048 Engel is a 777 Young x Self.

Adam, 923 was red..beat out the 681 gansert red also by one vote for HD at Vermont..identical except for size ..not sure about the Donahue..907 young being the female on both (1059xself) I will be planting both those seeds plus the 1044..don't get more orange than them..

Big T I agree. I probably wasn't gonna grow the Donahue this season, but 2 of the 4 seeds got cracked in the mail so I am worried about them germinating in the future. That's the main reason they're in the running this year. That, and the stem on that thing was loonnnggg.

Don't worry about cracking..unless tip is broke,,lets water in sooner germinated test seeds a few days ago ..split seeds had lots of roots in 2 days..quicker than solid seeds i use clear plastic cups..roots all over before it pushes seeds out of the seed mix..some people remove shell and just germ innards..got an extra seed .file and gently pull out inards..cracked shell usually means early germination. Don't know why you want to grow a Gansert seed..Miserable Old Bastard..but I'll grow it anyway..more HDAs in the North East than anybody I know..top of my list to grow besides 923..they are just kin seeds grow a couple of each and cull the bad ones if there is such a thing..Good Luck T

farmergal, the 777 has hardly been planted in my opinion;
i have one and intend to grow and pollinate the world with it, self it, you name it. although all seed choices can and will change over the next few weeks, the 777 has grown TWO over 1,000 pounds - a 1223.5 and a 1048, and both were extremely orange. just sayin'. I'd hate to have to make YOUR choice! Good Luck, though---eg

On a cliff in the desert

495.2 Ressler (1030 DeBacco X 1143 Engel) HDAW -18%. Plant is growing like crazy despite real late start and possible YVD. Think I might lose the plant to YVD because a few inches of the main vine are yellow but rest of vine is looking good and leaves are looking good on the plant. First time growing a plant where it is growing. Might get an end of July pollination if I am lucky.
