In my best of an attempt i tried to kill off as many as possible in 2004, but I think i overdid it and ended up ending my crop early last year as well.

Does this mean they will be as bad this year as last?

reason I ask this is because, My father which lives approx 2 kilometers from my home didnt see one all year last year my patch was just covered in them every single flower had roughly 5-6 of them inside each flower they bascially took over my entire crop, mind you my back yard is more shadded them fathers place. This year if at all possible I would prefer to use very little to NO pestisdes if possible. just wondering what i can do for an early spring "help" prevention plan.

also can these cuke beetle eggs over winter in soils?

Dave

what does everyone apply to there seeds before planting to help protect them against other fungi dieses ect

thanks in advance

Steve: Give us a reminder on our early season Merit application if you would. How much to use, when to use it, and should it get tilled in after spraying on the ground? Thanks

The 75WP (and the 75%WSP) are both concentrated powders.

1-2 weeks before planting: Add 4 Teaspoons to 2 gallons of water & spray it out over 1000 sq ft of tilled patch that is raked level. water it in slowly to avoid puddling.

Repeat in 60-80 days.

The various lawn granules would work just as well if applied at the same professional rate that is recommended for white grubs in turf (.3 lbs active ingredient per acre). This technique is not recommended for in-season use since the vines themselves will prevent accurate application.

Bayer Tree & Shrub Systemic Insecticide (active ingredient Imidacloprid) will also work if applied on the same schedule. Follow the directions for systemic insect control on flowers & shrubs.
