Do these go after A.G.s? I don't see why not. I lost a few tomato plants this year to them(even with my less than perfect protection(a piece of shish ka bob stick on each side of the stem), and am thinking maybe I should protect my A.G.s, until the stem is stout enough so they can't wrap around it.
I commented on Christy's post just below, that maybe a cutworm was the culprit of her plant wilting.
Loosing an A.G. to a cutworm would be quite frustrating.
If I remember correctly, it seems I lost a melon plant to a cutworm last year.

I just checked my tomato plants, and three more were mowed down by cutworms. I immediately put a wooden stick by each of my A.G.s. I put them about 2" into the ground, and an inch sticking up above ground. This may not be foolproof, but it could save me a plant or two, and will give me a little peace of mind.
Thanks for your reply Shannon. I'm sorry for your loss. Hopefully we learn something new each year in growing these A.G.s. Sometimes we learn the hard way.

Regards,
Doug

A plastic cup with the bottom cut out and the side spit for a wrap around is good to. Shove it in the ground half an inch or so. Guess as long as you don't trap one inside the cup that works fine too.

i use plastic soda bottles, bottoms and tops cut off as docpipe says cut a slit in the side for easier removal.
