Here in the Northeast we have been plagued by persistent rains. While Sparta, New Jersey has received over 15" of rain in 2 days here in Kennett Square (S.E. Pennsylvania) we have received only .74" however we have had rain on 50% of the days in August. This makes for extremely moist soil and wet leaves leading to a host of problems. My recommendation? Bring out the beer ! Poured a six pack of Samuel Adams in shallow containers to attact, get drunk and drown all the slugs that have made their home in my beloved patch. What a way to go and harmless to the surrounding environment. I do have to keep an eye on my neighbors to make sure he doesn't drain my containers - he's a Sam Adam's man.

Hi Gary!

If you want to grow giant pumpkins, rule #1 is never waste the beer! I guarantee you'll need it later on in the season!
