I've got a slight problem and I'm not sure what to do about it. Last night when I checked on one plant it had a small section about 1/4" wide and 1" long eaten from one of the cots. I spread some diatomaceous earth around the plant in hopes of attracting the unknown creature from my plant but, this morning a big chunk of the other cot is missing. The plant is still small, only 1 true leaf is out, the second leaf is still a few sunny days away from opening, and the forcast still calls for lots of rain. Can anybody suggest a pesticide for this unknown creature (I haven't been able to find a little bug with a full belly anywhere in the tent), and if I do lose both cots at this point, as long as the first leaf remains in one piece will the plant recover?

I'd guess it is a slug or snail ... they are night feeders and you rarely see them during the day.
If I were you I'd put down slub bait and some sevin powder
both right at the base of the plant and then another ring about a foot out.
I have the same problem.

I caught a small slug on my 1125 Frantz, it ate a small hole through the cot. I can just imagine the damage a large slug would do.

Slugs communicate. Slugs will march hundreds of feet to a feeding area. Slugs share source location by the slime line they make.

It is time to get serious about slug bait and poison. You do not have time to locate Sluggo or Escargo which are non-poison based very good products.

The beer in pan only gets some of them. Get the poison and use per instructions. Clean 'em up. They like the taste of pumpkin too.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have some good stuff on the ground within minutes of getting home.

How well does copper work? I saw this product and was thinking of getting some. We had a lot of slugs last year.

I have a feeling that it is probably manufactured for some other purpose than keeping slugs away. And, I wouldn't be surprised if the version not marketted as a slug repeller was a lot cheaper. Any ideas what else this copper mesh might be used for?

I'm now missing small pieces from the first (and only) leaf on that plant. I hope it is a slug, and I hope it enjoys the poison I put around the plant. I'm not going to be pleased if I lose this plant. Any suggestions on other steps I should take now to prevent infestations of other creatures while I wait for some decent growth? When should I start spraying Sevin?

Read the instructions on the slug and snail product box. They are good instructions. Keep applying per instructions.
These products work pretty darn well.
