OK while working out in the yard today, I moved this old tire that was once used as a flower planter, it was basically filled with soil and a few years ago had flower in it year after year, Well I noticed there were allot of big black ants all over it. Well I went to move it today and tipped it over to get the dirt out and BILLIONS of these HUDGE black aunts started scattering all over the place like crazy and there was also allot of larva ( things the aunts were carrying around) they looked like little white maggots, I think they are called larva correct me if wrong they are baby ants right? anyhow as soon as i saw this I ran inside and got my BUG X and sprayed them down well they were pissed as they were crawling up my shoes biteing my legs ( and yes they bite )
i killed as many as i could with the bug x ( this stuff only kills on direct contact ) so i got a bucket of boiling water and finished them off with that, My worrie is now that there pile "nest" was so close to my patch now that I have disturbed there nest killing most of them could they possibly move into my garden as a new home as its the only other soil around thats soft whats the chance that could happen? Ive never seen so many pissed off ants before should i place those ant baited traps around the patch? or not worrie so damb much LMAO!!

LOL

Relax. Ants won't hurt your pumpkins. But aerosol bug-x propellants & boiling water will. LOL

Actually In my front flower bed 2 years ago I had planted
4 rose bushes and the middle one died, when i pulled it up there was hardly any roots but turns out these same style of ants were under it with a hudge nest, last thing i want is for these suckers to move into my garden LOL, But ya for the amount of Bug X I applied then to top it off with a bucket of boiling water I dont think I should have any problems

North America has NO live plant eating Ants. They do eat freshly killed or decaying vegetation (sometimes, depending on species). The Rose died so the ants came. The tire made an ideal home for them so they stayed, finding food as most ant do; by foraging. The ants didn't kill the rose & they can't kill pumpkins either.

ant don't kill pumpkins....unless they are the very small argentine variety here in California.. they wil farm millions of aphids that will trash you plants...

safer brand fireant killer.. made from d-limoline.same stuff in orangeglo.. distilled aromatic solvent from citrus..I use it half strength. just mix with h2o and dump on their hill. they will not make it out alive. plus it leaves the area smelling citrusy fresh. about $ 20 for a quart of concentrate.
