Well I pulled my one plant today, one that had turned yellow and growth had almost stopped, well when I dug around the roots to remove it, I shook the soil away from the roots to find a 5 little white maggots, cutting into the vine of the plant there was more inside.

NOW i'm worried about my other 3 plants whats the proper way to spray the soil and or plants to controll them?

like how do you get the chemical down into teh soil to controll these suckers?

thanks
Dave

If they are seedcorm maggots Imidacloprid will kill them as long as you get them before they enter the plant. Bayer tree and shrub is a good one to use, as it's in liquid form and used as a drench.

Bayer Tree and shrub. is that stuff safe to use on pumpkings and other vegetables within the garden?

I read up on this stuff a little bit how it works
and it sounds good as its long lasting. Would you try this on just one plant first to see how it reacts?

The insecticide dissolved in water moves down through the soil, where it is absorbed by the roots. Once absorbed, it moves up through the tree or shrub providing year-long insect protection. Bayer Advanced(TM) Tree & Shrub Insect Control even moves into new growth after application, thus protecting it, too! To get complete protection, the insecticide must distribute completely through the tree/shrub. Depending on the size and health of the plant, this may take one week to three months (for very large trees). Rain or water cannot wash off this internal protection.

The tree and shrub is Imidacloprid, which is the active ingredient in another pesticide many people use (I can't think of the name of it). I wouldn't put it on veggies you intend to eat, but it seems ok to my pumpkins.
