Over the last 3 years I have noticed a weed that I have never seen before. It looks like a small morning glory with white/pink flowers. It is relentless and grows quickly wrapping itself around anything in its path ( including my pumpkin plants). I pull them out but they just come back. They are taking over my lawn.
Is anyone else having a problem with these? What are they? where did they come from? Doug

once you have them they are hard to get rid of, the roots go down four feet or more. Roundup helps but you have to het them several times to kill them.

Test a small spot you can watch using 100% Vinegar. If it works as it may it will be safer than herbicides and less expensive.

I've been battling that stuff for 4 years and making headway, but in very small steps. It's very hard to kill, impossible to do in 1 season.

This stuff is also called field bindweed. It is hard to control with chemicals unless you let it flower first. Then hit with a hormone with some Dicamba (Killex) or Roundup
Obviously if you are close to the pumpkins you will need to take very special care. You could cover the plants prior to spraying. If using a hormone, spray in the evening and keep the plants covered overnight. try not to do it when it will be hot the next day and as little wind as possible.
