Does it matter how big the little pumpkin on the female flower is compared to how big it will grow after pollination. Closer to the stump like 5 ft. the females are really small, and now on the vine farther out there is a female flower that is much larger. The big one is about 10 ft. out. None of the female flowers are opened yet. Even though I am not going to pollinate the ones closer to the stumps I was just wondering if the size had any relation to its future growth. Also what about the shape and color?
Thanks,
Kevin

I don't think size really matters. I've had all different sizes and shapes on the day of the bloom. Shape should be even without any major defects. Color.... umm... yellow will give you a pumpkin, green gives ya a squash (in general). Maybe other people have more experiences with recording size at bloom with final size . . .
