AHHHH! One of my plants this weekend started to wilt Saturday. I thought it was from lack of water due to underestimating the rain we had. I watered it well and it came back. The next morning same thing. Last night the end of the main was toast. The vine was mushy and yellow. I cut it off and found a stringy spider web type of material inside. I left the rest of the plant in to see if it would be okay. Ken D was nice enough to send this link of an old pic. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/displayphoto.asp?pid=112&gid=-1663. I will take pics when I get home. Here is a good link that explains. http://www.news.cornell.edu/Chronicle/01/9.6.01/pumpkin_wilt.html It appears cuke beetles are carying this around the Northeast and landed in my patch. I had been spraying Daconil every week and using Sevin to kill the cuke beetles on sight. Any suggestions?

I lost my first plant to it last year. Odds are it's terminal, but you may want to MAJORLY cut back the plant. Mine started at the tip of the main, and worked it's way all the way back to the stump until the whole thing was toast, even through some huge cutbacks. good luck.

Sounds like the same. Been killing cuke beetles daily. I am letting it go until it either turns or dies. No fungicide will fix it.

I should have started with Warrior T.

Forget Warrior Rob. Merit stops them long before we'd even notice their presence.
I'm sorry for your loss. Have you any others still going?

Steve, I have two others that are from good stock. Not sure why this one caught it. I have been spraying Sevin on them but may look for Merit.

Rob, that just plain stinkin' stinks! I'm sorry. As Obi Wan one said though, "There is another".

Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes the meaning of one's existence is to serve as a warning to others. I now have more wisdom than before.
