me and sis where checking all the plants today and found what appers to be a split vine and theres sticky red fluid by the split gross but its only at the bottom of the vine so what do i do know sis says to cut the main before the split and train the secondary the plant is going on 20 feet and luckily no females have been set yet so what could this substance be and what should i do it looks like painted on koolaid its streaks and is sticky help if you can

I had hoped someone would have commented on this by now so. Since no one has, I'll wager a dumb guess. I child eating red candy or drinking red juice happened upon the patch for a spell & did what they do.

thanks i do have a child and just mabye lol i guess the whole svb things got me on edge since i have pumpkins growing and all lol

I wonder if it could be some kind of fungus or mold. I bought a 105 pound pumpkin last year and one (amongst a few others) of the colours that I observed as it rotted was red. Maybe the split has been there long enough for something like this to form.
