Hello,new here, and new to the pumpkin growing scene, I live in ohio and am currently growing my first pumpkin (atlantic giant). My problem that i have is my leaves are turning black around the edges, mostly of the new leaves. It started as one or two leaves and now i notice about 6. its still growing like crazy but its worrying me, I think i may be feeding it too much. Could that be like fertilizer burn or something like that?? i have put sevin dust on it and am using miracle grow stuff, but i have been using it every 5-7 days. Again its my first plant ever and any help will be appreciated. Any ideas??? thanks

This does sound like a fertilizer surplus. Depending on your soil type, you might wish to try flooding the patch with heavy irrigation to leach the surplus Nitrogen from the rootzone. Sandly loam leaches but clay might mean trouble.

If the leaves are turning leathery at the edges first, then wilting and turning black it sounds more like sunburn to me. Especially if it's the immature leaves near the end of the vines. Check the plant during the heat of the day. Look for wilted, leathery feeling edges. If that's the case, it's just sunburn.

thanks for the replys, im gonna try to hold off on the fertilizer this week, and just keep watering it, im guessing if its sunburn then theres not too much i can do. thanks again
