I tried to get a pic but did not.
They eat my corn leaves,and i saw one on a AG leaf.
With the storms coming in it has gotten almost useless to
spray bug killa.
I am using "hy yield",,,does it wash off?

Definitely Japanese beetles. We got tons of them here in Ky.They are terror on beans, eat corn silks, have stripped 50 of leaves and fruit off of 2 apple trees. The leaves look like a seive when they are done. So far they don't seem to be bothering my pumpkin plants. Peace Wayne

@#$% Jap Beetles. I used grub x in the early spring and have only seen a couple this year. They tore my green beans up last year. Not bothering punkins yet.

I took over a new section of a small farm plot this year and along with the 5.5 ph I am stuck with major root damage. Take one of those small green garden bamboo sticks and poke it in the ground about 20-25 holes to the square foot....thats what my soil there looks like today. Holes are from the emerging beetles...what once were the root eating grubs.....geez louise its been a tough year so far....

Merit applied to the soil now & there won't be any grubs in the area next year. Beetle may still fly in, but not as many.

Permethrin will take the beetles out McP. Lasts 14 days in the sun at labeled rates. Extreme rates control borers & lasts long but watch for phyto. Less more often is better than a burning bomb.

How long does permethrin last in the rain?

Needs to dry to last...but the beetles might still feed in a light rain. I'd spray during a break & reapply a few days later if need be. Systemics are better suited to wet weather. Imidacloprid might be up & working in several days with wet soils though it isn't real strong on beetles.

My neighbor said he had them real bad one year.
Then they tapered off to none.
No heavy frosts,no insecticide,no milky spore.
What might have wiped them out?

During rainy summers a fungus called "Beauvaria" sometimes wipes them out. It might have been that. Nature tends to keep itself in balance when it can. We used to sell a commercial culture of Beauvaria but it was pricey & had a shelf life. The developer (Troy) went bankrupt shortly after we returned our unsold inventory. Too bad. I think another company is trying to make a go of it. I hope they make it.
