Does anyone use any type of weed killer in their patch? If not, how do you keep the weeds from taking over?

Thanks.
Chuck

Roundup Quick Pro Dry, but any Glyphosate containing product will do. Stay well away from young plants. But after the secondary vines have reached their boundaries & have been terminated, Roundup "mistakes" go un-noticed.

Thanks Tremor. How do you apply it?

i use a Spray Doc 2 gallon compressed air sprayer. The tip is adjusted to a coarser than average spray pattern to reduce drift & the pressure is kept intentionally lower than normal for the same reason. I have hit stems with no ramifications but direct foliar hits have shown some damage.

I agree with the glyphosate. I works good to knoch down the weeds before you plant. When the plants are young, you can cover them with a bucket to keep the spray off. Anything to keep the weeds down without tillage will help preserve the organic matter content in your soil. I also recommend mulching to hold downt the weeds as well as preserving your soil moisture. Grass clippings works wonders and also builds OM.
