Anyone ever had this problem as everytime I water overhead there left a rust on the leaves and ended up killing the plants. Anyone have any ideas on how to attack this problem.

Thanks,
Todd

It may not be rust even though it looks like it. I have a well and until we finally got a filter last month there was always rustlike stuff clogging all the sinks and the washing machine and all. I forget what the water test said, but it wasn't an excess of iron. I've never had it build up on the leaves though. AleX Noel.

Some fungus diseases are called rust and leave a rust colored residue on the plants. Could that be your problem?

I put a pool up last summer. When I took my well water to be tested it was off the scale for iron and hardness. I watered overhead a lot with no effect on the plants. I would suspect that the water did not kill your plants. Just my thoughts. Steve

Thanks for the help but all I know is where the overhead water hit the side of the garage it is now a rust like color too on the siding. This was also on the leaves.

Thanks,
Todd

Todd can ya get barrels and get water off the garage or house as much as possible?? I know some of the water around Indiana has some serious iron in it. Could you use soaker hoses to keep the water down on the soil?

Try a quick bleach solution spray and then vinegar on the side of the garage...just want to make sure it is not something growing...the bleach will kill if if it's living and the vinegar will slow down the growth...that way you know...especially if on the shade side of the house.

Is there a sulpher smell to the water? I have the same problem and think it could be sulpher bacteria. Do a search on well water + sulpher bacteria.
