Could I hear from some of you guys/gals out there who do this on a budget? (or should I say "are there any of you out there that do this on a budget") I just don't have deep enough pockets to cover Warrior-T and a lot of this other stuff. Here's my real question. Is there a way to do the pesticides & fungicides on a budget??? Thanks Kenny

I would say yes you can do it on a budget. Although you can not expect anywhere near the same results. Most of the pesticides that are discussed are available in smaller quanities and weaker dilutions at most big retail chains.

I agree with shannon on this,,,here's what I have done for a few years when trying to save some money:

check the suggested products,,look at the labels(web search) and make note of the "active" ingredients,,write them down and go shopping at the chain stores or local nursery/greenhouse supply stores,,,try and find the same ingredients in another more affordable product ( I always follow directions to the "weaker" side and try in a small area first)

also do a search on this site and you will find that like about everything else here,,,everyone seems to use something different,,but usually when you filter the posts you have enough info to make your own choices with a better understanding of the products

1 Bottle Sevin concentrate $12.00
1 Bottle Daconil $15.00

This will provide you with enough to cover the season for atleast 8 plants.
Now Fertilizer is another story...If you have brought in as much compost and manure as possible. All you need is water.

Around here you'd also invest in a Powdery Mildew fungicide (chlorothalonil) which in a retail bottle might be $6.00. One bottle should last the season for 2-3 plants.

Iv'e had good insect control using Triazicide. Definitely better than Sevin.
