A couple of days ago, I noticed some field pumpkin volunteers growing in my patch. Today, I was trying to identify the variety when I noticed that they were covered with striped cucumber beetles. I believe they are about a month early.

Yep, here too! Set 15 plants out 3 days ago and today they were covered. It'll only get worse. In my frantic attempt to find space for all the muskmelon, watermelon and cukes, I planted them right next to the pumpkins. Ohhh!! What was I thinkin'??? This is gonna be a nightmare!

I found cucumber beetles on my plants today, after planting them yesterday. It is way to early for the soil applied Merit to work. My advice for anyone in this area is to dust your plants with sevin or something else immediately after planting.

I used to use seven dust for the seedlings. I think the liquid I always put too much on and burnt them. Now I apply Admire in the pots about a day before I set them out and works quite well.
