Cool I read that on the web and also to use the soap. Ill give it a try as they seem to be really going after the new grow and something needs to be done.

Be careful of the soap in the heat. spray it in the evening.

Here's a link to some information regarding white flies and different ways to combat them. The site is a good resource for other information as well:

They reproduce quickly & all life stages must be dealt with to gain the upper hand.

Merit as a soil systemic, soap to control the immatures & eggs, etc. All named products would work. They key is timing & diligence.

Oh...and like CountryKid said, don't kill the plants in the process.

PS. I hit em with some SeaWeed juice last night since Aphids dont like the stuff either and the seaweed is magic potion. My plants are only at 3 feet and its supposed to be 100° on Thursday. I sure dont want to kill these babies Ive worked too hard on this.........hoop house, 3 tiered sprinking system.......its not an easy sport....if it was everyone could grow a monster
Keep em alive........Its Wizard Time

Tremor, What should I not do??? I do not want to loose these BB's. I know spray after dusk but I know theres more to know. I want to use the yellow cards cuz I know they wont kill the kin. On the merit? What strenght, full, half, dont worry? On the soap? Same ?'s What do you mean about timing and diligence? Please Advise Da Wiz. For now I have stopped my foliar program. I will post pics tommorrow on my leaves.

Lisa has this white fly thing nailed. The control strategy has to speak to ALL of the life stages at the same time else an untreated life stage will mature & the problem will return. Eggs are the biggest problem & the reason some folks find themselves using adulticides repeatedly often to the harm of the plant. But then oils & soaps which work well on eggs can also be injurious to plants if temperatures rise. Catch 22.

Chuck,

Is this what they look like?

or this?

Do a Google search for "Hemlock Woolly Adelgid". I've been working with this pest ever since it landed in the CT River Valley in 1985 when hurricane Gloria blew them over to us from Long Island.

If this is the problem you have then send me an email or call me.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN YELLOW STICKY TRAPS!!

Found this at
http://www.ehow.com/how_9839_make-own-yellow.html

Yellow sticky traps are used to capture flying insects such as whitefly and aphid. Placed near an infested plant, the yellow color attracts the insect and the sticky coating captures them. Here's how to make these pesticide-free traps from scratch.

Steps:
1. Cut stiff yellow paper into strips 3 inches wide and 7 inches long. (Image 1)

2. Unbend large paper clips into 'S' shapes. Pierce the yellow paper with one end of the paper clip to form a hanger. (Image 2)

3. Spread Tanglefoot brand pest barrier onto one side of the yellow paper with a plastic knife. (If you spread the Tanglefoot on both sides of the paper, you would have a sticky mess!) (Image 3)

4. Hang the homemade traps in the branches of plants infested with aphid, whitefly or other flying insect pests. Yellow sticky traps are also great for capturing fruit flies.

5. Remove and replace the traps once they become studded with victims.

I'll give it a try Its supposed to hit 100 today.
