No problem Brooks. Have any trouble with cuke beetles over your way? I've killed hundreds, possibly thousands here this year. Damndest thing I've ever seen. Mounds of dead beetles on and under the plants.

Way to Rog! Keep up on them!

I havnt seen not one cuke beatle around my patch yet Monty(knock on wood),I dont know why ether and I hope it stays that way but I have seen cuke beatles in the inmates gardens thats only 3 miles from here though, but none here yet.

the SVB is in central Maryland as of today. Also cucumber beetles but not too bad and I even saw a squash bug yesterday it's early for that. -Jim

I thought that I had SVB's REAL bad until I finally did one in......dang it....Mud Dobber.....I was trying sooooo hard!

My own research indicates that the SVB is moving North to South this season. Go figure.

I killed two squash bugs over the weekend here as well Jim. Haven't seen any more SVB's but the season is still young.

Dang Brooks, your cuke beetles must have moved to West Virginia. I counted 157 dead beetles on just my 1370 yesterday! I have never seen them this thick, just wave after wave of them.

I have another type of bug hanging around the patch. It looks like a wasp, but isn't. It's often mistaken for a SVB here on the boards, but I can't remember the name of it. I'll see if I can get a pic of one when it quits raining. I've never seen it eating the plants, but they definately hang out in the shadows.

I'm having the same problem with cuk beetles as you. It's the worst case I've had in the 7 years I've grown giant pumpkins. I just get one batch killed & now another wave of the little buggers hatches. I used Merit for the first time this year & it's not helping with the newly hatch beetles. Will apply sevin again tonight.

Monty, Phil,
Woke up this Morning to water my plants and couldnt believe the numbers of cukes I seen, I dont know if they all was on the same bus or what but they finally made it down my way,Yesterday their was none today there is a bunch, never seen so many, espically show up all of a sudden like they did,lots of em!

I waited to the last possable minute to apply any pesticides or fungicides this year, I wanted the plants to grow organic,or close to organic as long as they possably could,last year I applied way to early when the plant didnt even need it.
I drenched in Merit and sprayed the leaves with Tal-star after you spotted the vine borer Monty, glad you mentioned it because them cukes would be eating my plants to shreds on a surprise attack.
They are all on the leaves lathargic(sp?) or dead, or dead laying on the ground.Gonna be a bad year for em looks like.
