I just tilled in a crop of buckwheat and will try solarizing my patch soon (not growing this season). I'm debating whether to use 2 mil. or 4 mil. clear plastic. I know the 2 mil. will heat the soil better and is cheaper but the 4 mil. is a lot less likely to rip. Any thoughts? Thanks, Charlie

I done mine last season with the thicker plastic and was not pleased. It didn't get hot enough and only became a greenhouse for weeds. If I was doing it again , I believe I would use black or the thinner clear to really get the ground hot; mine only got warm.
