I read here that they do not seem to cause a pumpkin problem per se, but my Mrs. believes they are coming to the house because of the pumpkins/moisture/etc.

I had a neighbor recommend Terro very very highly. It is a borax mix. I have tried Boric acid and sugar water with limited success.

Suggestions anyone?

They are attracted to moistere but they also love the nector from aphids. If you have ants around your patch I would check under your leaves for aphids. I waited to long to do so and now I have aphid problem. Some of those ant granules work ok. What I have found to work best though is to follow their ant trail back to their nest if it's close by. Then you can use use whatever you want on their nest to get rid of them.

Fortunately, no serious aphid problem or other bug problem. Merit and Talstar has taken care of that but good idea to look again.

Treating the patch may have driven some ants into your home. Either way, Terro works the same as sugar/borax because that's what it is. This formula works very well on small brown ants. But if Carpenter Ants are the problem then a sugar based bait is useless.

Can you post a good picture of the ants? Once we know the enemy we can choose the weaponry.
