I'm having the same problem this year that i had last year... Went out to check my plants to find that a few had wilted... (BAD WILTED and it happens with in a few hours) and now the plants growth is stunted and all the leaves are turning yellowish and begining to die. I think that maybe it is a virus.. or maybe a fungus that attacks the roots and i think that it may be nested in my soil... (i hope not but i am afraid that that is what it is) is there such a thing?.. and any other ideas on what it could be?

PS i checked the vines no mushy spots.. no borers... anybody have any idea what is causing this... and how i can make it stop?

Thanx Justin

Not sure justin but could it be grubs. I've had it happen to me on other plants, The grubs surface to the root area when the temperature get right. Then gnaw away. If youve been spraying sevin it will probably rule out grubs because it rinses off into the soil. Take a shovel to a nearby weed and dig around it and inspect the roots for what ails it. or is somebody spraying their plants the same time eveyyear around you? hope you get it!!! Chuck

Can you post some pictures? Have you been spraying anything on them? How much have you been watering? Yes, there is such a disease. I had it last year and it is called Fusarium. See my diary for 2001 and compare to your leaves.
