Hey there - I am a beginner gardner and my pumpkin vine was going great. Lots of flowers and baby fruit just behind some of the flowers. I noted that the vine was starting to wilt from the ground about 1 metre out and then there was healthy vine growth. I have just gone out and i have noted that the baby fruit no bigger that a large marble have begun to rot. Can anyone please help me as to what I should do. Thank you Timos

Could be plenty of different problems. little fruit not pollinated will terminate themselves..to much water, to lttle water..etc...If you could post a picture of the plant and the problem areas it would definitely help. Good Luck! GrowEmBig! Chuck

Timos,

Something is causing a disruption in the vascular system. It may be fungal, insect or just a stepped on or broken vine. We need more information.

Are the vines buried? Are Squash Vine Borers a problem in Australia? How about Fusarium?

If you don't see any physical signs of chewing or other mechanical breakage, then I'll suspect a Fusarium-like fungal disease. If it's just affecting the small fruit then try shading them & cutting back on irrigation. If the whole vine is turning to mush then we have a more serious issue.
