Friggin...I feel your pain...I fortunately only lost two to a young-un who managed to squeeze through a 2"x3" metal mesh fence, also buried 12" !!! Beware all !

I took care of the woodchuck that thought my garden was easy pickins.Emergancy road flares down his hole,covered up the enterance,and 10 minutes later he was back in hell where he came from.

you guys make me laugh. I feel for you guys that have these little S.O.B's. My grandma uses moth balls in their holes. Not sure what it does but it gets rid of them for her. What do you think I should do with a damn deer that thinks my garden is her dinner. I cant shoot her ( thought about it) but the neigbors would complain too much.

Polka, got the same deer problem cuz I abut a 1200 acre
audubon preserve. Had to hang up deer netting around entire patch, 7' high...they haven't jumped it yet ?!?!

Polka,

Sprinkle powdered cayenne pepper on the leaves they have been eating. This will send the deer over to your neighbors to eat. Re-apply after rain.

... tried DEER-OFF last season...cayenne pepper is an ingredient I think...they appeared to welcome it as some kind of salad dressing...gotta block their access somehow !

thanks guys. I bought something called Hender. Made with amonia. Man at feed store said that the deer cant stand the smell. We shall see. If not she's history. lol

Dot, got a spray from Bonide call SHOT-GUN deer and rabbit repellent. Deer whack all the hostas around the house. I applied once in april and the hostas are just starting to get touched now. reapplied now will let you know if they stop again. that's about 90 days per application. its a taste and odor repellent so it doesn't smell real good for a couple of days. spotted a woodchuck at the back fence of the patch looks like next years site has a peoblem brewing always something!

friggin I must say that was about the most accurate discription of the over grown rats, my father in law spotted one tues night by the patch so I spent wed morning at first light sitting and waiting, ahhhhh add another to the victory of the .22 with NO damage done to the plant by the fur ball.

Any thing that don't belong in my pumpkin patch develops lead poisoning. So fare ten woodchuck have all came down with it.

Well here we have Prairie dogs, (gophers) same thing as woodchuck.

The patch I have been loaned at the greenhouse which by the way will be planted with 5 plants next year has loads of them but the owner has two huskies that love'em.

It's funny watching them dig for them, one digs and one stands back when one is done the other takes over I've seen them go almost five feet down. Now if I can get them from throwing the dirt on the punkin plant.

Read all the previous posts, LMAO so hard I almost pea'd myself.

One other thing just last month they had a provincial gopher hunt were ya killed them by any means possible, cut there tails off and kept them, the one with the most tails won.

These varmit are destroying all the farm lands and pasture area where cattle break their legs in the holes.

Any ways they ended up killing about 16,000 of them one guy alone killed over 6,000. Boy was the animal rights guys ever up in arms.

Then it turns out that there is a couple places in Ontario that sell Prairie dogs as pets... $290.00 a pop

The province should have shipped them there instead of killing them that would have been over $4,000,000.00 in the public purse.

Ernie way to go with the tomatoes! In suburbia guns are out of the question and I have been unable to locate any holes to "Flare" out at. Is there a bait for havahart traps that is successful. To many dogs and cats and kids to use any type of nasty one shot kills all type of stuff. Have to eyeball the captured creature and be sure before the whacking occurs...No it would't go for a ride unless it's wearing cement boots...Chuck

where I live I dont see too many squirrels, woodchucks, etc. But if they are around I hope they stay at the neighbors house and eat his garden. Which by the way is what I have seen this deer do. Heck I encourage it. lol
