The best 4 of 8 seed starts show one tightly curled cot leaf. Any ideas? They happen to be my own seed as back-ups.
Wonering if it's genetics or maybe moisture or lack there-of? Or something else? Thanks, Duff

Duff, no idea....lots of them have been thrown out into the wind in the last few years, The one thing that I do believe is....it really dont matter. The cots feed the plant until the roots grow enough to start uptaking nutrients to feed the plant. The cots feed the little bugger whether they are flat or curled.....my best lookin plant so far this year had the tighest curled up cots I have ever seen...HammerHole...just short of 5' vine and saw a little golden globe this evenin!!!!!!!!! Peace, Wayne

Duff:
In the past few years people have started reporting curled cots. Also, in the past few years, people have started using H2O2 in their seed soak, and mycorrhizal fungi in their starter pots. Also, in that same time period, many potting mix manufacturers have started fortifying their mix with nutrients. Any of those three variables could play a factor. I know for sure the H2O2 will curl the cots. As Wayne said, though, it all evens out by June 1 in your patch whether the cots were curled or not.
Dang, Wayne, 5 feet of vine already?
