I have a row of 12 sunflowers down the edge of my patch. I dont see any fireants, but then I spray for pests. To use this approach, you would have to give it full confidence and allow the ants to live.

The original post was made in 2005 & the author didn't follow it up. It's a cool idea for growers in the fire ant belt.
