Hey JRO sorry I had to address you on this page. I know your not a pest,a diseaes or a problem. I just wanted to say thanks for posting pictures of SVB eggs on your diary. I couldnt find any good pics on google. I looked at yours after I seen some darn svbs for the first time. I went home yesterday and examined my plants looked hard and found nothing. I went inside and decided to check harder and found some right under the base of the leaves and killed them. Hows your battle going I cant wait until their gone.

Jason, just like Svb eggs squash bug eggs look very similar only a reddish color and usually are grouped together, so keep your eye out for them aswel, sometimes growers, including myself mistake the squash bug eggs with SVB eggs.Ether way they must all be eliminated!,lol

LOL, no problem. I sometimes wonder about the grouping of the eggs. I have never seen a squash bug in my area, and have watched an SVB lay the eggs on my plant. I know what the eggs look like. I have found several together. I thought this was weird. I think I would rather have squash bugs than SVB.

My battle is going well, knock on wood. I dont find too many on my pumpkins, lots on the squash. I think the bifenthrin really keeps then away. Further, if any eggs are laid, its kills them in short order. Sav Spada is the other Windsor grower, and I gave hime some of the bifen, and he is experiencing similar results.

Im still battling those little bugers. I sprayed with Pyola and Ortho Max and it seems to be helping. I catch them flying around the patch at about 2 o clock if its real hot out. Usually theres only one or two of them. Me and my girlfreind go out every evening around 6 and pick any eggs off that we can. I tell her itll only be about another month and the fight should be over.

I too look forward to August. For both the lack of SVBs and the close to halfway point in the growing so you can see how your season is progressing.

Yeah Jro I cant wait until the battle is over but me and my girlfreind were talking and I better take some pictures of my plants just in case. If its not raining tonight me and my girlfreind will pick off what ever eggs we find. Some of those eggs are hard as heck to find you really have to look hard. Its weird there were no signs of them at one of my pumpkin plots but pleny at the other. I hate that bug with a passion. Ill just keep spraying Ortho max once a week and in the middle of the wek spray Pyola. I wonder if neem oil will do any good at least to smother the eggs I cant find?
