So I'm out spraying the neighbors lillacs with milk this eve (looks were priceless), they have PM and are close to the punk patch. As I was thinking of the people I've met while doing this messed up hobby, are you 'guys' pulling my leg on this one? Guess I'll see in a few days regardless, if so, ya got me. 2% ok, correct? Jeez, why do I do this, it's worse than snipe hunting!

Not pulling your leg. I earn my living selling conventional pesticides but the milk deal is real.

Any milk seems OK. I've used 2% & Whole milk. I've heard skim milk works too but haven't tried it.

10% solution so put 13 oz in a sprayer & top it to 1 gallon. Spray UNDER each leaf once a week. There is no harm in hitting the tops. I've recently read that using milk during the heat of midday gives the best results. I've only used milk during the daylight hours & it worked great so this might be true.

If you say so Tremor, I buy it. It's the usual suspects that have me concerned, you know what I mean. That guy down in Iowa really has me worried, and the guy over in Chip Falls, Wi. Did I mention the current MN record holder? He really scares me! And who's the dude with the IV thing going on? I'm done with the patch for the weekend, going fishing. Yes, it IS ok to let nature do it's thing, if things go bad so be it.

I used it last year adding in to the Agro-K spray at night, it was the first year I had no PM on my leaves till the middle of Oct. Im convinced it works like magic and will use it again this year. I used 2%, Thanks Tremor

Bob...take a xanax, and ice cold beer or whatever you need. Paranoia will get the best of you if you let it. I know there is alot of pressure to get a pumpkin over 230lbs this year. I have faith you can atleast get 240 :)If you get any bigger than 500 you would probably need to tear the house down to get it out of the back yard.

Im planning on trying some nonpastorised milk strait from the farm , should have more bacteria in it , whata you guys think ? maybe dilute it a tad more than store baught .

Early testing was done on whole unpasteurized milk. It worked the same. It's not clear why but bacteria is probably not the reason. I think that the fat enzymes alter the leaf surface environment. But low-fat milk is equally effective so perhaps the amount of fat doesn't matter just so long as there is always some present.

Shannon,

If I get anything of size, you're going to be the first one I call! Do you have a skid loader and lifting ring? And xanax and beer? Sounds like fun. I'm going for 243 pounds this year I'll have you know.

Good luck Bob. I'm rooting for you. Maybe I'll see you at a weighoff this fall. I wonder if any MN patch tours will be planned this year?

You too, Doug. Prettiest again this year, or prettiest and big? Nothing pretty here. Does captan work on pm? Just in case the milk doesn't?

I had a guy tell me to use eight tablespoons of half and half. That's half and half coffee creamer. He says he has been doing it for the last several years and it stops PM dead in it's tracks.
