I was in my patch yesterday night and two rabbits managed to get under my fence and get inside my patch. Once they saw me they hopped away. Does anyone have any tips on keeping them away. Ill shoot them when I see them but Im not always there. Any tips would be appreciated.

Mothballs......the regular old-fashioned type work well for deer and rabbits. Just place them on the perimeter of your plants, one at each secondary and one between each secondary.

I got rid of rabbits this way two years ago and developed a deer problem this year.

Fox urine works for us. We get the kind that hunters use as a cover scent or trappers use as a lure scent.

Fox urine sounds like it would definetly work. Im going both routes I dont want any rabbits chewing on my fruit. Do you use a lot of fox urine or just a little??? And how often do you apply. Thanks

Just a little bit around the patch works fine. A little more where they are getting in and causing damage. Reapply after a rain. After a few weeks the rabbits just decide to stay away and no more problems.

Jason, I have rabbits running all through my patch, they even rub there back on my electric fence as they go under it. My electric fence don't seem to shock them because they are so small I guess, but on the other hand if my 90lb dog touches it you would have thought someone hit her with a baseball bat or something,LOL....its not funny but then again it is when she gets shocked, but it don't happen to much anymore because she got smart.

But rabbits don't worry me much when I see them in my patch, I never have had any trouble with rabbits chewing on my plants, ever. Ive seen em eat the weeds under my plants though.

I agree with you Brooks, we have been watchin a cotton tail travel through our plants too, sits underneath in the shade, have seen no leaf been eaten.

I've got 3 rabbits that enter my patch every evening like clockwork. I've never had a problem that I've seen. They must just eat the weeds....and that's fine with me.

Im not that worried but I just cant stand dealing with anymore critters this year the svbs are bad enough. I did get some mothballs last night and spread them around the patch just in case.

yep they just like to eat the weeds and feel protected by the large canopy of leaves..

I had rabbits chomp down a lot of leaves and a few pumpkins this year until we used the fox urine. The electric fence didn't seem to stop them. They are so fast they can get in between pulses. In 2005 they chewed on a 700#+ pumpkin and scarred it up.
