Lost all plants this yr ! 2 rotted off stumps, But 2 others were looking great (I thought) they got to be huge plants, like one was 26 ft secondarys ea side ( total 950 sq ft) , first problem i noticed was pumpkin slowed down very early ,I found main vine was rotted off in middle of plant , then other pumpkin was growing good & on pace- Then suddenly slowed at day 21 & i found vine between pumpkin & last leaf was half rotted ,I tore out all plants & noticed that main vines were rotted down middle most of the way ! What i think i did wrong is water over head to often like 3-4 times a day it was keeping leaves from wilting & thos leaves from burning, But I guess i wasnt watering long enough to get most of ground watered , So when i pulled plants ground was very dry in general & probly never dryed right at leaf nods as water ran down then all the time ,,, SO not suse if lack of water could cause vine to rot in middle ?? of if i got desease ??? Any ideas would sure be appreciated , Glenn ! ???

Glenn Im sorry I did not reply to your phone call. I have been at fair most of the week. Yes I believe you over watered,It happened to me on the 1370 and rotted the main in 3 places.I believe if you water offen you need air supply moving to dry the top of the vines and soil would help.

I've never seen a plant die from wilting at midday but watering 3-4 times....Fusarium? Is there an orangish color to the mushy stems?

Contact a pathologist at the cooperative extension.
