I have a pumpkin that is very oddly shaped. It has a 13 inch circumference, and is growing on a very crummy secondary vine. I was wondering what could be causing it to have white spots. is it genetic, or something????

What kind of shape? Are the spots soft and/or oozing?

There have been quite a few posts about the 'white spots of death' - usually a sign that the fruit is aborting.

Do you have a fruit on the main? or any other secondaries?
This one might be surrendering.

It's been quite hot here in the NW over the last couple of days >90s so that might have done it in. You'll know in a couple of days.

Thanks a ton. Your very likely right. It hasnt grown for the last couple of days. I guess Im going to have to get rid of it. I have two other pumpkins on the main vine that are doing fine. The white dots are blothchy and hardly noticeable compared to the color, and they arent soft or oozey(sp)or anything. -Antonio Bandino

I really think a plant "knows" what it's carry capacity is.
That is why I asked if there are other pkins on other vines.
The plant only has a certain amount of energy.

If there are too many fruit the resources start to run low.
