I heard something very interesting today. I heard before you plant your seedlings....take seven dust and spread it around your patch and till it under 6-7 inches and it is supposed to helps keep the cucumber beetles down. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it worked?

This is very intresting to me, i wonder if this would also work for the damn squash vine borrers, as i know allot of these got in my soil last fall, and also squash bugs? you could really have something here, sounds like it would take allot of seven prabably about 8 containers to get good patch coverage though. ~Wildbill

HI I found White Grubs (June Bugs) When I was digging my soil for testings. I Took a bug sample to the Nursery and they suggested I use "Sevin 5 Granuales" I spread it on The ground and then watered it in. Will be tilling in a few days and hope to find only dead bugs. Water

Would this method of adding pesticide kill good bugs too? Does sevin kill worms?

At a seminar a year ago a grower told me He applied GRUBEX to his soil before planting to kill insects and grubs. Its active ingredient is 0.2% Imidaclopred, which is also the active ingredient in Admire that I used to treat seeds and spray my plants with last year. I bought a 14.35 pound bag of GRUBEX and spred 2 pounds in about a 30 foot diameter circle for each plant. Imidaclopred is a systemic insecticide and I used it thinking it may kill larva that feed on the pumpkin roots. I don't know if it killed worms. I do know Diazinon kills worms. I mix it in the soil under the cold frame that I germinate seeds in to kill seed maggots. I find dead night crawlers. In some States GRUBEX has a different active ingredient.
