i posted last week about a leaf problem. leaves were starting to yellow alittle. i thought my sevin solution was too strong. today, the same leaves, which are the first leaves, have brown spots on them with leaves still being yellowish. 2 of my plants are like this. only the first true leaves are like this. the plants have been in hoophouses since 4-28. i cut back the ferts and watering. i open the hoops everyday, but some days it still gets quite warm in the hoops. 2 plants seem to be ok, no signs of the yellowing or the brown spots, much bigger than the other 2. checked leaves for bugs, couldn't find any. the new leaves growing on these plants look really green and healthy. any help would be appreciated!!!! need to know whats going on with the yellowing and brown spots. spots seem to be tiny!! thanks for any help!!!

Probably Sevin damage. Young plants don't tolerate full strength pesticide sprays very well. What were you spraying for, what rate was used, what time of day & what was the tmperatue?

tremor, i was originally spraying for slugs, which i have remedied since then, granular around the plant. i used 1.5 tbs per gallaon. it was about 10 in the morning, sunny, maybe 60-65. my hoops did get quite warm that day, even with the doors opened. i originally thought that i burnt them, but wasn,t sure. thanks.

Joe,

No foliar anything on seedlings. Never.

No chemicals of any kind at 10AM ever. Never.

If a spray is justified only do it in the cool of early evening as the sun is going down.

Cloudy or sunny, as soon as we spray the conditions will change. Please don't chance it.

Weak fish or seaweed can go on the soil but seedlings don't have enough conductive leaf area to treat yet.

Just give them time. Sometimes it's harder to do nothing but with the weather like this we sometimes try to force growth which is always bad.

Patience.
