the mail man just came in to tell me his pumpkins were doing great until staurday afternoon when 15 snapping turtles dug them up and layed thier eggs in the holes. we thought a wood chuck was a problem.hahahahah

The Same thing happened with me too, luckily I didn't lose any plants... (knock on wood) If you garden near a pond I guess this a problem you could have in June. It is amazing to me just how many problems you can encounter with these plants.

If this becomes a regular problem I would suggest burying some poultry netting or hardware cloth to discourage the snappers in the "critical drop zone".
