I pollinated a female june 27th about 15 ft out on the main vine. The plant is a 1315 Larue and couldn't be healthier... its enormous.. roughly 1500 sq.ft. Almost all vines have been dead headed and all male flowers trimmed. I've virtually halted all vegetative growth. The fruit looked great and then it just stopped growing. Any ideas. I don't over fertilize and soil tests this spring were almost perfect.

Look for soft spots. Mice could have burrowed from underneath into the fruit. Stem/blossom end split.

I too have the same problem with both of my plants. A 985 Werner and a 1462 Gibson look great, pollinated 6/27, were growing 4-5 inches a day in circumference, now stopped completely. They were both around 70-80 inches circumference when they quit. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi titanic, what part of PA are you in?

Hmmmmm....that is odd for pumpkins of that size to just stop growing without any other symptoms.

Its seems that everytime I would have a fruit that size stop growing on me it soon followed with plant meltdown. Weather it be SVBs or stump rot.

Same thing happened to one on my plant. Estimated 100 pounds. Pollinated that same day 6-27 and grew rapid up until the last week. It now has soft spots on it and i will have to remove it. Luckily i still left the main and it happened to set another one wayyyy down the plant at 25 feet.
