Ok well after a very dry month with no rain we were hit with 4 inches. So everything is very wet. Well i happened to notice down close to the base of one of my plants that it looks like it has soft rot. Now i have seen people cut the bad parts out. I was wondering if this would work for what i have on my plant. Theres a decent pumpkin set on this plant and i would hate to see it lose its connection to the stump. here is a link to a picture. Any suggestions on what i can or should do, would be greatly appreciated. I realize i would need to do something asap. I seem to be getting hit with everything in my patch.

Thanks,
Brandon

not a great picture for a decision...can you remove some of the dirt from directly under the infected area and see how far the rot goes through...Can't tell if exactly where the stump is...but the sooner you can dry out that area and apply captan to it the better. if its a spreading rot it might be to late already....I'd clear the soil out underneath it, scrape out the rot, apply captan paste. and keep the area dry with a tarp overhang, if I really needed the connection I would also put a fan on it to keep air circulating over it. Good Luck! GrowEmBig! Chuck

the stump is about 4 leaf nodes downward. The vine is curved because it started vining slightly off from where it needed to be. I will check tomorow to see how far it goes or if it got worse and whatever the deal may be. Theres no electricity out where i grow because it is a community garden or otherwise i would do it. This happened like as soon as we got all this rain. I will observe tomorow. Thanks for your Help. Grow em big. I will post more once i find out more.
