I live in the coastal region of South Texas.Due to heat and humidity, I have stopeed trying to grow the Atlantic Giants, or any pumpkins for that matter. I was raised in minnesota where pumkins grew well. I love to grow pumpkins and hope to find a heat and humidity tolerant type. Does anyone know of any??

There are some posted in the seed exchange, for free, cost you only bubble envelope and postage. There are 2 postings from growers from Texas & one might be from Oklahoma. Go to the seed exchange, go to the bottom where it says next page, look under the Posted by, toward the top is the cooks (tina and frank) and about 10 or so down is Paul f.

I would think that shade cloth over the entire patch should do it

shade cloth as gordon said. put in some overhead misters too. maybe try growing one of your own Ag seeds that is used to the climate too.

Heres my general idea. When the stores begin to sell pumpkins, get yourself a few of them. Carve the pumpkin(make fresh pumpkin pie with the meat) and save the seeds. Dry them out and save for the next year. You can usually buy pumpkins from your general area, just ask the grocer or check the lables on the bin they are holding them in. Itll usually say where its from. Then the following year when its close to the end of winter or later in the summer plant them. You might have to protect them a little but if I can grow them in Arizona then you can grow them almost anywhere. Last year I had the worst luck but it was a great learning year for me. My pumpkins kept dying because of when I planted them, so I planted watermelons and they grow and grow and grow in the heat and the plankts that were in the 120 tempts all day long had the best fruit.
