Whats the best organic thing i can use to halt the powdery mildew on my 801 clone? I heard seaweed works well at stopping the spread of it...not sure how true that is....anyone have any suggestions??

Any help would be appreciated, and remember, you are helping me to make a 801 clone live for next season..which i plan to make great crosses with..i wont forget the help i recieved, if any.

Thanks

Baking Soda. It's still a chemical. But it is a food grade chemical. Not as good as conventional fungicides. Spray about (I'M GUESSING ON THIS RATE do a google search) 1/2 oz (2 teaspoons) per gallon with a sticker. Every 4 or 5 days should be OK. No curative properties though.

Yeah, its in a green house at the college I attend and gets 10-14 hours of light (day length) (natural and artificial) like a normal summer around here.

thanks for the suggestions so far, i will look into them.

by the way, this 801 clone is from the 801 plant that grew the 1049 Koch 02.

Case,

I checked Cornell. It's 1 heaping TABLESPOON or 4 teaspoons baking soda added to a 1% (1.28 fluid oz/gal) Ultrafine Horticultural Oil.

Watch the oil. You can't use Dormant or Superior grades under glass. Too likely to cause Phyto.

Decreasing the humidity may not be practical under glass, but it will help if you can safely do it.

That sounds like a valuable plant. Why chance a bio-rational spray when other products work so much better? The location?

Just wondering, is Daconil not good to use in the in the greenhouse?

Would it cause damage to other plants?

I have the same phormula as Steve's. I've tested it this fall and it cures PM! But you have to insist each several days.

At the college, they only use organic stuff to control pests, fungus, and other disease. They asked that i do the same (but would they really know what i used anyways??? lol) The college is in Stevens point, WI.

Thanks again for the help.

I think i will try seaweed first, see how that works, if not, then go to baking soda + oil....if not, then i will sneak in some good stuff...

eventually, before my christmas break from school, i will get a pic of the clone and post it.

You want something to kill the powedery mildew and remove it from the plant? Only thing I know of that does that is a product called eco E-RASE. It doesn't prevent the disease, it kills it. The product is a derivative of jojoba oil. I know United Horticultural Supply or UAP should have it. If you want to pay a lot more for it though it's available from Rosmania.com in the fungicide section and I believe Primary Products also carries it on their web site. Good luck.

that's Rosemania.com not rosmania. stupid fingers also it's not listed as organic yet, but they're working on the certification.
