I've seen this mentioned as a repellant for cuke beetles. If you've used it, I'd like to hear how you use it, and how effective it is. Do you sprinkle it on soil of the whole patch?

I'm sure that you CAN produce an extract. Likewise you CAN add the surfactants & spray extenders to make it effective. But you can also get it wrong & lose the plants.

Making stuff in the kitchen probably works for some people but I doubt we'll see them in the GPC hall of fame.

Thanks Steve. I do have Garlic Barrier, but was wondering if I should also sprinkle garlic powder around my patch. Maybe the smell of it would keep cuke beetles from coming close to the plant?

I don't believe it would do you any good.
Last year I tried making a batch myself. I used fresh garlic I had grown, blended and mad an aerated tea from it. Put it on the patch and the next morning it looked like a landing strip and a cucumber beetle airport. The whole patch smelled like garlic but there were more beetles after applying it than before.

I have had great success with garlic powder, at least early in the season when the plants are small. When the plants get bigger, a spray might be more effective in spreading out the garlic. But is a real cheap effective product for early season.
