our lovely, wonderful neighbor is completely "green" and has plants that have suffered bacterial wilt in the past two weeks, and has lost several cucumber vines..... This week we lost our first cucumber vine to it, followed by a second.

I'm assuming the pest vector here is the cucumber beetle(which he has and hasn't done anything for), and spraying is going to do some good, but they are going to get to the plants and be on them before the pesticide can take effect. Is there a "green" way to treat for them?? I've seen organic sprays but I know for a fact that he probably won't use them. I've already offered the soap/water combo and that too has been turned down- I had that mixed up to treat for aphids on a tree.

IMHO, he's wacky, and he's dooming my garden by resfusing to do anything for the beetles and for the wilt. By him not practicing IPM I'm really irritated. At least spend some time out there squishing them by hand. Thats how I started off the season, and was quickly overrun with them.

Garlic Barrier. I have used it for 3 years now and have not seen a cucumber beetle here. I spray once a week and when I spray, I spray everything, not just the patch but everything around the patch as well. Keeping the grass around the patch cut helps. How close is this neighbor? Which way does the wind blow? I would spray more between the two of you. Let his crops be the sacrificial crop. Keep your plants as healthy as you can. Insects and diseases like unhealthy plants. The GB may be a better preventative than something to get rid of them. All I know is I start early and use it on a regular basis and like the results it gives me. Do you use molasses? That would help to keep your brix level up and healthier plants.
