All pumpkins in patch got white and died - does anyone have any ideas as to what it is that got them? The picture shows it well. Thanks for looking.

Fusaria, alternaria, are some possibilities.

Look at these:

Thank you. I checked out Fusarium and it seems as if it could fit the bill. I googled it and this site seemed to describe what went on. http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crops/facts/00-031.htm. Looks as if no pumpkins should be planted in the are for a couple of years.

JP - for years I'd lose a lot of field pumpkins as you describe. Most of the inoculum splashes onto the fruit from the soil by rain. Once I saw my AGs doing the same thing I started using sand & pulp mill fabric to keep the fruit away from the source of inoculum. Between the barrier & fungicides I don't see the problem any more.

If they are all small as shown in the photo, isn't there a chance that were never pollinated?

Tremor, do you still have that article that you wrote about fusarium/bacterial wilt disease? Its the one with my pumpkin plant as te picture?,, that was a great article you wrote. I saved it somewhere on my computer I'm sure of it, but never could find it.

Brooks,

It didn't make it onto this computer. I'll check my old one next time I boot it up.
