Merit contains the active ingredient "imidocloprid". While agriculture use versions of imidocloprid such as Admire are often (depends on the state) Restricted Use Pesticides, the turf & ornamental imidocloprid products like Merit are NOT restricted. So if you can find Merit, you can buy it. See Len's systemic insecticide article in the "HOT TO" section of this website. The catch: Diluting the 75% Wettable Powder for small patch use is a little dicey. The 2F, or flowable version (like Admire) is easier to work with, but still requires mixing & protection from freezing.

Bayer Corporation is pleased to announce their NEW 2.5% Granular version of Merit in a 4 lb. Plastic jug. (Looks like a laundry detergent bottle) This version comes with a measuring cup for convenient volumetric measuring & dispensing. While not currently labeled for use on pumpkins, there has been no shortage of creativity on behalf of this resourceful group. Each 4 lb. jug contains the same amount of active ingredient (.1 lb.) as 6.4 oz. of Admire 2F or Merit 2F. This makes for practical use on small areas. Bayer has this product labeled for Ornamental use only. Great for Birch borers, Rose Thrips, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Leaf miners, scale, etc.

As a sales representative that distributes Bayer products I must inform the reader that this post is for informative purposes only & is not intended to be a recommendation nor endorsement of use of a pesticide outside of the legal realm of the printed label. The label is the law. Use of this or any other pesticide in a manner inconsisitent with the printed label instructions is a violation of state & federal law. Please always read & follow the entire label before using this or any other pesticide.

New York, California, a handful of other states have not yet approved the registration of Merit 2.5G. Most are expected to approve in the coming weeks.

Just thought folks would want the latest from the pestici
