How do I apply? How much per gallon? How much should I use this time of the year?

4 level teaspoons, mix with a gallon of water, spray on 1000 sq ft and water it in.

Yeah but my plant is not 1000 sq ft wouldn't that be a waste?

Not a waste at all. Spray the gallon on the entire area the plant will grow into. Since most growers train there plants into 600 sq ft Christmas trees, you'll have enough to treat a portion of another "tree" as well.

It won't wash out of the soil? I put a teaspoon in one gallon of water last night and watered all my plants with it at the base. Is that enough? Can I just put it at the base the whole year?

No. If you apply as advised now and again in 4 weeks the material will perform well. Just treating the base will leave the expanding main unprotected.

Imidacloprid lasts a minimum of 4 weeks in the soil.

So It lasts longer than Bayer Tree and Shrub? Do I only apply once a season? Or twice?

How does it leave plant unprotected? Isn't merit a systemic that will get pulled from the roots at the stump into the rest of the plant?

Nic, probably more cost effective if you drench root zone and maybe a few feet out around it. I was once told to add a little fish with it as it will help the plant take it up faster.

4 teaspoons per gallon is the correct rate? Seems a little strong in my opinion......

I accidentally applied 25oz of a 75% Imidacloprid powder over 1200 square feet this year. The cucumber beetles are dead.

1320, its 4 teaspoons per 1000 sq ft that you are treating. If you are just drenching a 100 sqft area around the plant then you would use a tenth of that. The amount of water is insignificant its just the carrier for the Merit.

25oz that's insane. LOL

I was the largest volume salesperson of Merit 2F in the world for 2 years in a row. I also had the privilege to work with imidacloprid before Bayer bought it.

Take my word for it. No matter how tempting it seems, just treating the crown will NOT cause plant wide translocation.

When Bayer says "season long" their marketing group refers to the fact that a well timed application will take out one season's worth of grubs in a lawn.

This should not be misconstrued that the chemical remains active the entire season. It does not.

Steve,

Merit,4 tsp. per gal. is that for the roots only or may it be applied to the foliage as well at that strength?

Thanks, the coffee is on

I have used Merit 75wp for the past 4 years along with talstar One with great success on cuke beatles and vine borers. I mix 1/8 tsp of Merit and 1/2 ounce of Talstar per gallon of water in a compression sprayer and spray until leaves are wet to starting to drip (if that makes sense). I spray every 10 to 14 days with this solution starting in early to mid June and continue to late August here in VT. My wife also uses the same solution on her lupine plants to kill off aphids.
